WORLD WIDE INSTALLATION

The key to a long lasting and stable test cell is a properly designed reaction mass and correct, complete base plate installation. Bay Cast can assist in the design of your reaction mass and we have a full time in-house installation crew operating world-wide to provide the critical service of field installation. From design and installation to setting, leveling and pressure grouting, our field service team employs state of the art equipment to complete the installation of your base plates to precise specifications.

SPECIFICATIONS

Setting:

Setting of test bases shall include handling techniques that will assure no permanent distortion or breaking or cracking of the plate. When resting on any surface, an overall flatness of 1/4" must be maintained. Lifting through the use of a series of lifting brackets distribute the load over at least 1/2 the length of base using (2) third points on each longitudinal side as centerline for the load spread. Bay Cast Technologies will provide all labor and materials necessary to set the test base.

Leveling:

Leveling techniques must be such as to achieve a high degree of accuracy. Base must be level as determined by a field level capable of measuring increments of +/- .001". The final flatness goal shall be ±.015" over the entire surface after grout has cooled and hardened. Surface of test bases shall be -0 to +3/8" of surface of surrounding floor. Bay Cast Technologies will supply all labor and materials necessary to complete leveling operations.

Grouting:

Non-shrink grout, furnished by Bay Cast Technologies shall be a non-shrinking mixture of Portland cement, concrete sand and water to form a plastic mix capable of being placed without voids. The grout may be mixed on the job site or factory mixed and bagged material. Proportioning and mixing shall be done strictly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Bay Cast Technologies shall provide all in-house labor and materials (including grout, mixers, pumps, hoses, air compressors and miscellaneous equipment) necessary to complete grouting operations. Grout shall be Unisorb V1, Dayton superior sure grip, U.S. Grout 5 Star or similar grout as approved. Pressure grouting shall be required using equipment specifically designed to mix and pump grout under low psi to insure 100% (no air pockets) bond between bed plate and foundation. Top of foundation must be wetted down prior to grouting. Equipment will be of a design that will allow continuous pumping of grout under extremely low pressure.

Bay Cast Technologies shall be responsible for cleaning plates and applying one coat of rust preventative prior to turning over to owner.

ALL ITEMS IN THE FOLLOWING SECTION TO BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OTHERS:

All anchor bolts shall be cast in pit to within 1/4" of locations shown on print. Also, they shall be cast to within .030 of plumb. Trowel smooth and flat an area of 6" in diameter around top of anchor bolt can. Provision of access to site of water within 150' and 110 volt electricity within 150' of site. Periodic maintenance of rust preventative on bases after installation and prior to job completion. Provision and installation of required isolation materials shall be the responsibility of others. Installation of floor drains and the mechanical connection between test bases and drainage system shall be the responsibility of the general contractor.

ARCHITECTURAL:

It is preferable that neither concrete nor grout should be poured directly against sides or ends of base.

ADDITIONAL INSTALLATION NOTES:

Above based on the assumption that manufacturing and installation of test base can be coordinated with construction schedules in a manner which will allow for direct access to test cells prior to the erection of perimeter walls, & on a single mobilization and move for our installers and equipment to the jobsite.
